I am joining Cindy at My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday. I have a framed page out of a old magazine by an American artist. I think I probably got this out of an old Ladies' Home Journal. The artist is W.L. Taylor. He published often for this magazine throughout his career (1895-1926) I love the romanticism of this type of work. He preceded N.C. Wyeth and Norman Rockwell but when you look at his work you will see how he influenced them. It was common for ladies all over America and the world to tear his full page pictures out of this magazine and hang them on the wall (talk about a romantic home-ladies have loved romance in the home always!). From the late Victorian to the Arts and Crafts movement he combined the best of the romance and details to create images so beautiful. I found this website where you can still purchase his prints http://www.wltaylor.info/index.html.
So, from my romantic home to yours enjoy a very little know artist who could capture the beauty of romance in something as simple as a ladies publication. Who would have know? We should celebrate art today with art in our magazines. Please join Cindy at My Romantic Home and see what other wonderful things everyone has to show.
