Home Sweet Home #34

Hello and welcome to Home Sweet Home!  I hadn't really planned on making this table.  But, I love this tree and thought I would try it as a centerpiece.

Black and white transferware, so perfect for Halloween/Fall.

A rustic look I like.

I liked this because the simplicity of the centerpiece gives it a little modern edge mixed with rustic.

Now, for a shameless plug.  A few weeks ago I showed a table with these table runners and sold out of them in my Etsy shop.  I have 5 more of them in there now, if your interested.  I will be putting more in there, just keep looking.  I am starting to work on things for Christmas this week.
You guys rock it every week!  You all were very crafty last week. :)  It is like visiting with friends at their home every week!  Love that!
Thanks for joining me at Home Sweet Home!

Now, I would like to feature some wonderful post from last week's Home Sweet Home.

Baked Apples

This is such an easy dessert.  But I often forget just how good it is until I make it every few years.   The guys in the house will talk me into a pie over this, but this is just as good and better for you.

Ingredients:
2 apples
4 pats butter
cinnamon
nutmeg
cinnamon stick (for garnish)

Core your apples and cut in half.  Place them in a shallow baking dish lightly oiled.  Put 1 pat of butter in the center of the apple and sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.  Place cinnamon stick in the center.  Bake for 45 minutes in a preheated 425 degree oven.
Makes 4 servings
Enjoy!

Lovin' Fall

I took a walk last week after a morning fog lifted and found several reasons I love fall.

Maple leaves...,

spiderwebs covered in dew...,

and mums full of color under a neighbor's mailbox.  What do you love about fall?

Pictures above have a single layer of scripted autumn or fall-in texture applied.

More Halloween Inspiration

More Halloween inspiration today coming from Mary Carol Garrity of Nell Hill's.  This is a direct link to her blog where she describes her Halloween decor.  You have to love a woman who plants a goulish skeleton in a chaise lounge reading it's very own copy of Mary Carol's Entertaining in Style.  Love this!

Mary Carol often decorates with a mirror on the front door.  Here I suppose you can check for goulish entities hanging about with you on your way home.

I also love Mary Carol's use of branches.  This is very typical of her over the top dining displays.  Never boring and always fun, check out this site for more great Halloween decorating ideas.
All of these photos and more from Mary Carol Garrity's are pinned in my Pinterest board.
I will join Natasha for her Pinning and Singing Party at her blog 5 Minutes Just for Me.
Go over and visit her site.

For my singing I picked out a song by one of my favorite groups,  One Republic.

Shabby Chic Fall Table

My house is full of boys and color but, I still adore Shabby Chic style.  I have been enjoying all of the wonderful ways that I have been seeing Shabby Chic Style transform for fall on blogs.  How do you put a little color in with all the soft white decor?  Especially during fall which seems so "not" Shabby Chic.

Haviland & Co. Limoges, feminine beauty in a plate.

The colors of nature take this palette into fall, mixing in a natural linen tablecloth, fall flowers, and fruit.

For this fall table I used:
Limoges accent plates
Hotel Balfour dinner plate
Sherbet pattern unknown
Goblets by Icon pattern Capri
Silver by Gorham pattern English Gadroon
Vintage placemats and napkins

Milk off the Shelf

THIS is what happens when your house is under construction, you make dinner with the kids and your spouse is working late for the night:

...Was wondering this morning how in the world we could have finished off a whole gallon of milk yesterday?  (The kids got oatmeal with water for breakfast.)...

...Until my assistant came in and asked me why the milk was on the shelf???
(I really didn't even notice it there.)  Ah vell.
Off to the grocery store!

xoxo, Lauren

ps- I'll be sure to post a few progress pics of the rooms we had redone!  (Undecorated as of now)

Home Sweet Home #33

Hello and welcome to Home Sweet Home!  I am gearing up for fall by starting some of my Halloween decorations.  Today I have created a little witch's hat.  I just tied up a raffia bow and placed some berries and leaves around the brim.

I didn't even glue this on the hat I just placed it on the brim.  This way I can reuse the hat next year.  The hat was a childs witch's hat from Target.

Here, I added stars.  I got the template for the stars off of Pinterest. This should be a direct link to my idea board.  You should be able to print the template from there.
So, this is a sneak peak at my mantel.  More to come next week.  Oh, the vintage part of this post is the green book on the bottom of the stack that the hat is on is a vintage German Medical Dictionary.  I picked this up at the thrift store for $1.00.
Thanks for joining me at Home Sweet Home!

Now, I would like to feature some wonderful post from last week's Home Sweet Home.
