Farmhouse Christmas

Here is a look at the dining room for Christmas.  Ever since we remodeled this space this summer it is my favorite place to decorate.   It is filled with pieces of furniture handed down from my family and it means a lot to me every time I come out and enjoy the space.

That garland from Lowes went down the length of the table and across the top of both the pie safe and the hutch.    It was really an easy way to decorate and it smells great too!
I love the votives with the mercury glass finish.  They are just the perfect twinkle for Christmas.

TCOH Thanksgiving

I have one more quick change to the buffet to show you today.  I took the centerpiece from the Thanksgiving table and used half of it to make this arrangement on the buffet.  The chalkboard simply states "Grateful for U."

I love the deer paint-by-number I found at a local antique store.  I just placed it in an easel to show it off.

I also made a video of all Thanksgiving looks for the last three years from TCOH.  If those of you with hand held devices have trouble viewing this, here is the direct link.
I wish each and every one a wonderful Thanksgiving!
May you be blessed each day!

Coffee With a Past

This coffee set up looks a lot like something from the late 70's.  I wasn't going to photograph the scene like this but; I went to bake the cranberry orange bread, then it had to cool off, and by that time the sun had set...time change!

All of the pewter comes from the late 70's.   American style was going through one of it's colonial revivals at this time.

So, I capitalized on this lack of sunshine by creating this coffee with a past.  I will give you the cranberry orange bread recipe tomorrow.
The pewter is all by Wilton Armetale.

Home Sweet Home #89

Hello and welcome to Home Sweet Home!   This week I changed my transferware for the Pewter in the Hutch.  I also added in some vintage Halloween decorations.

There is another way to get white pumpkins; by using Chalk Paint on the Pumpkins,
I transformed some thrifty orange pumpkins for my tablescape.

And, I made a hearty and delicious Lentil Stew for fall.

Now I would like to highlight some of the posts that caught my eye last week.
The Country Farm Home went junking and came away with a lot of farmhouse style wares!

Salmagundi recycled wool clothing and made this fabulously stylish wool pillow.

Sonny at 155 Dream Lane restyled her entryway into a lovely arrangement.

Jill at Sew a Fine Seam did a recovery operation on this deer head that was a major success!

Elizabeth at Pine Cones and Acorns tempted our taste buds with this Pumpkin Blue Brie Cheese Baked Macaroni.
Many great links every week!  Keep it coming!  Thank you to everyone who joins me at Home Sweet Home!  It is wonderful to have you here!

Pewter in the Hutch

I have changed out the blue and white transferware and placed the pewter in the hutch today.  I really like the transferware better.  The transferware has more sizes of plates to make it look full, but it doesn't hurt to try something different.

I found these vintage Halloween decorations at a favorite antique store.

Are you making any changes to your arrangements for the change of seasons?

What's In My Cabinet

Hi!  I'm joining Sandi today at Rose Chintz Cottage to talk about "What's in my Cabinet? We are sharing things that are our treasures.  I have always loved my blue and white transferware by Johnson Brothers the pattern is Coaching Scenes.  I have it here in the hutch with a few simple decorations for fall.

My other treasure would have to be the pewter collection.  It was originally started by my parents in the 70's when there was a Colonial Revival going on in decorating due to the Bicentennial of 1976.

I have added a few pieces over the years.

It always looks timeless as a full place setting or with just a few accent pieces like these candlesticks and bowl.  What's in your cabinet?  Any treasures?
Don't forget to check out my giveaway of My Memories Suite scrapbooking software!  It is great for bloggers and scrapbookers!

Fall Tea Tray

I'm diving right into fall decorating and I can't help but think about it in new and fresh ways; like the mix of black, white, and green.

I have a little tea tray that could easily be carted outside today to enjoy this crisper fall weather.

But, I can never resist adding something vintage in the mix.  Here I have found, at a local used book store, a copy of Famous Ghost Stories.

The illustrations in this book are wonderful!  It will definitely give me a chill if the weather doesn't!

Is it starting to feel like fall in your area today?
