A Rose Tea

I am having a rose themed tea today in honor of Rose Chintz Cottage's 2nd Birthday of Tea Time Tuesday.

This rose teacup is by Kent Pottery.

This teapot is decorated with ceramic roses.

This little vintage plate is covered in roses.  I made my cinnamon rolls heart shaped.  I'll show how I did that tomorrow.

And, to make it complete a few vintage linens.  Happy Birthday to Tea Time Tuesday!  It is always fun to pop over and visit Sandi at Rose Chintz Cottage who lives on the beautiful Prince Edward Island.  Go and check her blog out.

A Mad Tea Party 2010

I am joining A Fanciful Twist for A Mad Tea Party 2010. Click on the link and go visit to see the annual tea madness. (Re-post from 2010.)
(This is such a fun party, many participants held their teas with children.  Such a perfect idea for entertaining children in the summer.  Vanessa holds this party every year, click for this years info.  It will be June 25, 2011.)
Hurry, hurry don't be late.....(White Rabbit)
"Where did that rabbit go... did you see him?" Alice said.
"Curiousier...and curiousier," said Alice.

"A little tea set for me. The March Hare and the Mad Hatter are waiting for me," stated Alice.
"Mad Hatter, whatever is that your wearing?" said Alice.
"I don't know what you mean. It is cold, so I wore my panama hat," answered The Mad Hatter.
"You have set the most lovely tea," said Alice.
"Oh, what is this?" exclaimed Alice. "It is a bottle that says, Drink Me..."
"Oh, here I go again. Things are getting fuzzy...."said Alice.
" Did you see that White Rabbit?" asked Alice. "I think he hopped this way. Now I am so small..."

Just for fun you can view my Mad Tea Party in movie form.

Vintage Books and Some Tea

I have a little tea for one today.  When it is winter I get more creative with my centerpieces out of necessity.

Have any of you noticed these vintage books in the shops or catalogs.  It is an old copy of a hardbound book with the cover ripped off.  I have been seeing them frequently and I thought I would create some.  I got mine at the thrift store.  I first looked for all of the books with a blue tag; those were 50% off, and then I picked out the thickest and most yellowed page books I could find.  The best results are with the hardbound books, you get a real vintagey look from the ripped off binding.   They make great risers for your vignettes.  I made the cloche out of an old clock.  You can read about that here.

Tea pot and cup were from TJ Maxx.

Christmas Tea Vignette

Very much inspired by Victoria magazine, my Christmas tea takes us back in time.

It takes us back in time to the Victorian age, the time of Dickens.

Let us have a visit to Christmas in Merry Old England.

And for what I can't accomplish with my Christmas tea, Victoria takes us the rest of the way there.  The issue that inspired me December 1994.

Thankful Tea by the Fire

Do you ever write in a journal?  I never really did, but before I had my children I heard about a woman who wrote one to her children.   So, I started one by the time they were each 6 months old.  I write to them and tell them how much they are loved and what wonderful accomplishments their Dad and I are proud of.  So in a sense it is a gratitude journal for my children.  I tell them how grateful we are they came into our lives and how much we appreciate them.  Because some days all I seem to do is tell them is no.  LOL
My cup of tea is a piece of transferware I have always loved.

I don't know what the pattern is but I love the ocean scene on it and the colors are wonderful.  I put it in a English Countryside Misaka saucer.
I will link to these sites, go and visit them.

Cold Iced Tea

When spring finally gives way to summer.  The heat arrives with the humidity.  The thermometer can't tell you it is hot enough to peel paint.  But, you feel it as soon as you hit the door.  Sweltering summer heat.  The best remedy for that is some cold ice tea.
Now, I have noticed many of you have been sharing how you like to make your cold tea.  We just make ours in the coffee pot with two family size tea bags.  My favorite Luzianne.
I made some Lemon Cheesecake Bars to go with the tea.  When it is hot, I like lemon in everything and this is a cold dessert.  I'll share that recipe soon on Foodie Friday.
I had it all on this thrift store tray I had given a makeover.  You can click here to see what I did.  Hope you all are keeping cool.
I will join these lovely ladies for tea.  Please go over and see what wonderful tea they are serving.

Tea Time Tuesday: Herb Tea

Time for a little tea in the garden.  Don't you wish you could stop everyday and practice this relaxing habit of tea time.  Maybe when the kids are gone and we are empty nesters.
The inspiration for this tea was this great little infuser mug I bought once on vacation.
I have some lemon balm leaves in the infuser.  What I did was take 1 tablespoon of the leaves of the lemon balm tear them and placed them in the infuser and poured 1 cup of hot water over them to steep 10 minutes.  This is a weaker tea than your standard tea from the store.  But lemon balm has a delicate lemon flavor that is nice in tea.
Here is a better look at the infuser.  It lifts out so you can drink your tea.
And of course you have to have a little something to eat with it.  I garnished this with lemon balm, a great replacement for mint.  But, beware I planted it in the yard and it spreads just like mint.
The daylilies are in bloom.  They will probably last only a week.
Don't forget if you would like to win $50 gift certificate from CSN click here.
I will join these ladies for their lovely tea parties:
