I saw some pheasants at Hobby Lobby that I wanted but they each had a broken tail so I passed on them. Then I acquired these two pheasants at the thrift store for 50 cents and $1 but, I wasn't really loving their finish.
So, since my Thanksgiving table was starting to have a gilded theme, the pheasants got the spray paint can just like the acorns and the leaves. I left this pheasant solid gold. It made it look modern. I liked the change but I also wanted to play around with the finish.
This little pheasant was going to get the Rub'n Buff treatment. I hadn't tried this product before. It has carnauba wax and copper mixed in it to give a wax metallic finish.
I put the black Rub'n Buff on and let it dry.
Then you buff off some of the finish. This is how it looked. Which do you like better? I left one each way.
I then lucked into a large male and female pheasant at the Goodwill.
They were in pretty good shape so I go them for $1.75.
I decided to spray paint them white.
They needed more definition to bring out the texture so I applied a mocha glaze. I ended up giving them two coats of glaze. These will be my Thanksgiving centerpiece! I finally have pheasants for my table for a very inexpensive price.
