This is a story of Ichabod Crane,
Who went to a party down Van Tassel's lane.
He arrived to have fun,
And was sure it would be merry.
But someone began a tale of a ghost,
And it became rather scary.
Ichabod lingered to court Katrina Van Tassel,
But he knew he must go and not be a hassle.
The faint moonlight danced on the ground,
And the landscape made noises all around.
Ichabod's hair rose straight on end,
And his terror was soon to begin.
There was an old bridge Ichabod must cross,
Another way around it and he was sure to be lost.
Then the sound of a hoof behind him did come,
"Who-oo are you?" he shouted.
"Where do you come from?"
There was no answer so he shouted again.
This is when the terror truly began.
Ichabod slowly turned to see,
The rider was as headless as could be.
Ichabod spurred his horse and rode as fast as the wind,
He ran past the graveyard and way past the bend.
The last thing he saw that fate filled night,
Was the horseman's head by his grave-such a sight.
